21st Anniversary of St. John Paul II’s Passing to the Father’s House

2 avril 2026

Today marks the 21st anniversary of the death of our Patron and Founder, St. John Paul II. Due to the beginning of the Paschal Triduum, the traditional prayer vigil at St. Peter’s Square took place yesterday.

As every year, the main organizer of the vigil was the Polish Church of St. Stanislaus in Rome. The evening of prayer was prepared together with the Polish Pastoral Ministry in Ostia and our Foundation.

According to St. Stanislaus Church, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, the faithful prayed the Rosary for peace in the world, entrusting to God all nations affected by war and unrest. The reflections were based on John Paul II’s Message for the World Day of Peace from 1980. The Rosary was led by Msgr. Paweł Ptasznik, Chairman of the John Paul II Vatican Foundation and Rector of the Polish Church. Participants were welcomed and thanked for their cooperation by Fr. Tomasz Jarosz, Administrator of the Church of “San Stanislao”. The musical setting of the vigil was provided by the Gaudium Poloniae choir under the direction of Sr. Martyna Proszek.

Among those present were representatives of the Polish authorities in Rome, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Holy See, Mr. Adam Kwiatkowski with his wife, and the Consul of the Republic of Poland in Rome, Mr. Bartosz Skwarczyński.
